Television Shows From Our Past

Let’s take a trip back in time, to when we were kids and our best friends were usually in the forms of characters we’d watch on television. This week’s Monday Memoirs will be centered around the wonderful world of TV and the impact it had on our young lives.

.) What was your favorite cartoon show as a child? Were you a Saturday morning cartoon fanatic, or were you one of those who would race home after school in order to see one special cartoon?
.) Write an article about your favorite commercial from your childhood. Explain what it was about that commercial that was so memorable, and why it still sticks in your mind.
.) Who was your TV hero? Were you one of those kids who would watch your favorite show wearing your hero’s costume, or were you more into some of the more adult types of shows?
.) Where there any movies made for TV, or a major motion picture that had finally made it to TV, that you parents wouldn’t allow you to watch? Did you find a way to go ahead and watch the movie or did you wait until you were a little older before seeing this movie?
.) What were some of the major news issues from your childhood? What were some of the things that either your local newscasters would discuss, or some of the topics you remember seeing on one of the major networks? How did those news stories effect you?
.) What were some of the shows you had to watch because your parents were avid viewers? Were you at all interested in these shows, or did you suffer through them as there was nothing else to do?
.) What was your favorite sporting events shown on TV? Were you a huge football fan, or were you more into sports such as skiing or skating? Did you go out of your way to get to see your favorite teams?
.) If you could meet any of the characters from your childhood, who would you choose and why? Would you choose to meet a high profile action character, or would you rather meet a more comic type of character?
.) What is the one show that you miss the most from when you were a kid? Is this show a drama or a comedy, and what was it about this show that makes you wish it would make a comeback?
.) Of all the syndicated re-runs that can be found on just about every channel, which shows do you think should be allowed to rest in peace? Are there any shows still being shown that you enjoy watching to this day, or is it time move on and find something new?
