Michael Geffner-Wednesday’s Writer-1-7-09
Wednesday Writers, Writing Prompts - - Posted on January, 7 at 12:01 am

Though this site is about giving other writers a few ideas to write about, I thought it would be a nice gesture to showcase some of the cool writers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting since I started writing online. Over the past 5 years, I’ve been blessed in meeting some of the most intelligent men and women in the writing world.
The first writer I’d like to introduce the world to is a man I met just a few months ago, but have come to really respect. His name is Michael Geffner, and he is the epitome of what I’ve always thought a writer should be. Michael is more than just a writer, he’s a sports journalist and a columnist. He has been awarded for Outstanding Column and Feature Writing by the Associated Press Sports Editors in 2005 and 2006. He has also been voted best Sports Writer in New York City in 1990.
Among his credits, Michael has interviewed some of the most influential athletes of all times, including Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Derek Jeter. He has also had the pleasure of interviewing the likes of Dennis Hopper and Forest Whittaker. However, what was probably his greatest moments were the 2 times he had the pleasure of interviewing former President, Richard Nixon.
Even with all of this, Michael Geffner is more than happy to do what he can to help out his fellow writers. He offers up great advice, videos, and links to job sites on his blog, Mike’s Writing Workshop and Newsletter. He also has a wonderful writing group of nearly 9,000 members. If you want real information about what’s going on in the world of writing, this is the place to be.
Finally, Michael has recently created a social scene for writers, called Mike’s Writers Network. It’s set up much the same as Facebook, but it’s designed with writers in mind. It’s a great place to read up on some of the best writing blogs on the net, meet other writers, and just hang out. You can add photos, music, or videos, as well as your RSS feeds.
I invite everyone to check out Mike’s sites for writers and meet one of the coolest writers online. If you happen to stop by Mike’s blog, be sure to tell him Christine says hi. If you are a writer and would like to be featured in the Wednesday Writer’s section, or if you know a writer that could use a little exposure, shoot me a message and we’ll see what we can do.

Sadly I’m not much of a writer, takes me ages to actually write something and then check it all etc (damn dyslexia, lol!). Maybe when I get some more free time on my hands I might take a stab at writing…I know a few people who do, I may well refer them onto you, and the websites

@Dan, honestly I’ve read your blog and you’re more of a writer than you think. You may not be a professional author, but you ARE a writer.
@Michael, you are so welcome. You do so much for other writers, I just thought it was time that someone did something nice for you.

I love watching Michael’s blog and group grow. I want to be part of it more actively but need to get writing. I’m trying to write a play for myself but keep getting distracted by my other creative work. I will get there! Congratulations Michael on creating such a fabulous network!!

@Trilby–LOL, I totally understand about getting distracted. I’m famous for finding distractions to keep me occupied. I have faith that you’ll get that play done, and I hope I’m lucky enough to get to see it.
@Vicki–Thanks honey. and I do hope you’ll come back for more prompts. I can’t promise miracles, but I do promise to keep ‘em coming.
