Finding Ideas For Great Articles

I apologize for not getting a new post up here for over a month now. I’ve been so busy that I’ve neglected the one site that has been my baby for several years now. And for that I am truly sorry. I’ve been doing a lot of article writing over the past couple of months, most of which has been for other people. Though it’s a lot of hard work, I’ve never felt so satisfied. So, in honor of those who ghost write for their money, I’m posting the following as a way to come up with ideas for article writers.

Now, for the most part, when you write for other people, they give you a list of ideas and/or titles that they need done. However, when writing articles for yourself, you might find that it’s not as easy as it sounds. Not because you don’t know about a certain topic, but because coming up with new ideas everyday can get rather monotonous. So, here are a few places where you might be able to come up with some fresh ideas.

Take notes on the things you read on a daily basis, such as other blogs. As you find an article that really strikes you, see if you can come up with different aspects of that article. For instance, if you’ve read an article about creating your own business cards, think of other ways of making business cards. The more topics you can think of, the more articles you have to write.

Even if you’re not into the whole celebrity scene, this is really a great way to come up with new articles. Choose 3 or 4 different celebrities and find out a few things about them. For each person, try to create at least 6 different article ideas set around them. As an example, let’s use Charlie Sheen. What charities does he contribute to? How many of his movies were box office successes and how many didn’t do so well? How has getting older changed the famous actor’s lifestyle? Try to stay away from the normal attributes of your subjects and find things that other people wouldn’t normally think about.

News items are always a great way to come up with article ideas. Subscribe to a few different online news zines and see which topics are getting the most views. From there, see if you can come up with a few other ideas from that one article. The thing to remember here is that there are several sides to every argument.

Finally, check out the different forums and message boards across the Internet. If you have an interest in something, chances are that there’s a forum out there made just for you. Read up on the discussions going on and see how many different articles you can create from these topics. It doesn’t matter if you’re into antique cars or interior design. If you look hard enough, you’re sure to find a message board centered around your topic.

In this day and age, there is no reason why you can’t find a huge array of topics to write about. One of the best ways to find topics is to check out what’s being sought after in any of the major search engines, especially Google. Remember, if you’ve got an interest in something, you can rest assured that you’re not alone. Make a list of all the things you find interesting, then see how much information you can come up with for each topic. Before you know it, you’ll have more ideas than you’ll ever be able to use.

I probably make it harder than it really needs to be. It’s the things that generate the most passion in me (wrong doing, stupid laws, etc.) that I can let the words flow so easily. It’s a little harder to pick something out that doesn’t fall within those categories at times.
