I've always wanted to be a writer also. I wrote my first story in the 4th grade. We had a writing assignment where we had to invent something based on our names. At the time, my maiden name was Wickwire so I invented a burglar alarm made from 100 ft. of candle wick and 100 ft. of barbed wire. I got an A and a lifetime love affair with writing.

I never had the chance to go to college, so everything I've learned about writing, I learned on my own. I'm living proof that you can believe in your dreams and actually see them happen. :)

My dream was to be a writer. My mother wanted me to be a writer, from the time I started writing she swore that it would be my profession. Writing is just something that I've always done. But life got hectic, and the next thing I knew I was in the slippery slope of life--you know? That part where you're closer to the end than to the beginning? And it does feel like a slippery slope, it just seems to go so much faster.

But on the flip side, I don't have to take care of everyone else anymore. I can claim some of my time as my own -- and well deserved. I can tell them to back up from the desk and go make their own damned ham sandwiches. Stop distracting the little mouse on the wheel in my brain. And I'm finally at an ornery enough age to say it too.
